The 4th China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair (CISMEF), jointly sponsored by China National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, State Administration for Industry and Commerce, China Banking Regulatory Commission, and People’s Government of Guangdong Province, will be held grandly in Guangzhou, China from September 15 to 18, 2007.
The previous three sessions of CISMEF were integrations of exhibition, senior forum, financing negotiation, economic and trade cooperation, special training and policy consultation. They built up a good platform for SMEs nation-wide and made great efforts to help SMEs expand business, seek economic and trade cooperation and explore both domestic and overseas markets. In the first CSMEF, 13.6 thousand items reached agreements with total value of RMB 32 billion RMB (equivalent to US$ 3.9 billion).
France was invited to sponsor jointly the second CSMEF, and a Sino-France SMEs Fair was held during the second CSMEF. 23 thousand contracts were signed with total value of RMB 42.6 billion RMB (equivalent to US$ 5.2 billion).
The 3rd CISMEF & Sino-Italian SME Fair, jointly with Italy as a sponsor, was held in September 2006. Prime minister of Italy Prodi and vice premier of China Zeng Peiyan attended the fair. 3970 SMEs from China and other countries and regions shared 5110 booths. 210 thousand businessmen from over 50 countries and regions attended the fair for visits, purchases and trade talks. About 800 Italian SMEs shared around 12,000 square-meter exhibition hall space and more than 1600 Italians attended the fair. Key events such as Sino-Italian Senior Forum on SMEs and Sino-Italian SMEs Business Talk were held during the fair.

The local government has made great efforts to regulate competition orders of the market, protect intellectual property rights and take down counterfeits. Nowadays, the multilateral cooperation among countries and regions in the sectors of economic, technology and trade are enhancing; the Sino-ASEAN FTA has been launched; the CEPA (Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement) has been implemented, the Grand Pearl River Delta economic zone is under construction; the Pan Pearl River Delta economies are strengthening regional cooperation.
